Delete Your Account

Last updated: 2026-08-03

Version: 1.0

This page explains how to delete your LetsLoop account and the data attached to it, what happens to each kind of data when you do, and how to ask us to delete it for you if you cannot get into the app. You do not need to install anything to make a deletion request.

Deletion is permanent. There is no cooling-off period, no archive you can restore from, and no way for us to bring an account back once it is gone. If you return to LetsLoop later, you start again from scratch.

1. Delete Your Account In The App

This is the fastest route and it takes under a minute:

  1. Open LetsLoop and go to the Profile tab.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Account.
  4. Tap Delete account.
  5. Type DELETE into the confirmation box, tap Delete account, then confirm Delete forever.

Your account is erased at that moment, you are signed out, and the app returns to the welcome screen. Nothing is queued for later review and nobody at LetsLoop has to approve it.

2. Delete Your Account By Email

If you have lost access to the app, changed phone, or simply prefer not to reinstall, email privacy@letsloop.app from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. Put "Delete my account" in the subject line.

We will respond within one calendar month, and usually much sooner. We may ask you to confirm your identity before we act, to make sure we are not deleting someone else's account on the word of a stranger. You do not need to install or open the app for this route to work.

3. What Is Deleted

When your account is deleted we permanently remove, from our production systems:

  • Your account itself, including your email address, mobile phone number, date of birth, and login credentials
  • Your profile: your name, bio, interests and preferences, gender and pronouns, your area, and any links you added
  • Your profile photos and avatars
  • The photos, videos, and voice notes you uploaded to chats, stories, and the feed
  • Your verification selfie and the likeness image derived from it. These are biometric data, they are held in a private store that no other user can read, and they are erased along with the account
  • Any data export files you generated
  • Your loop attendance, RSVPs, saves, likes, blocks, and the activity your actions generated
  • Your community memberships and comments
  • Call metadata and diagnostic records tied to your account

4. What Is Anonymised Rather Than Deleted

Some of what you created is also part of somebody else's record. Deleting your account should not tear holes in another person's chat history, or make an event vanish for the people who turned up to it. So rather than destroying those records, we permanently detach them from you:

  • Messages you sent stay in the conversation for the people you sent them to, but the sender is unlinked from your account and shows as "Deleted user". They cannot be traced back to you, and neither you nor anyone else can edit or re-attribute them afterwards.
  • Loops you hosted stay visible to the people who joined them, but become hostless: the host is unlinked and shows as "Deleted user". Nobody can edit, cancel, or take over that loop afterwards. It is frozen as a record for the people who attended.
  • Calls you started keep their record for the other participant, with you unlinked in the same way.

Once detached, none of these rows contain anything that identifies you. This is deliberate and it is what UK GDPR expects: your right to erasure (Art. 17) does not extend to deleting another person's copy of a conversation you shared, or their record of an event they attended. It is also how established messaging and events platforms handle a departing member.

5. How Long Deletion Takes

  • Production systems: when you delete your account (or we delete it at your request), we purge your personal data from production systems within 30 days.
  • Backups: backups are overwritten on a rolling cycle not exceeding 90 days. We never restore a deleted account from a backup.
  • Moderation and safety records: where you have been banned, reported, or have a serious policy violation against your account, we may retain a limited record (typically email hash, date, reason) for up to 2 years to protect other users and to prevent re-registration of banned accounts.
  • Legal and financial records: where tax, accounting, or other law requires us to keep records, we keep them for the period that law requires.
  • Anonymised analytics: fully anonymised and aggregated statistics may be retained indefinitely. They contain nothing that identifies you.

6. Get A Copy Of Your Data First

If you want your data before it goes, request an export before you delete: Profile tab, then Settings, then Account, then Download my data. You can also ask us at privacy@letsloop.app. Once the account is deleted we cannot produce an export, because there is nothing left to export.

7. Alternatives Worth Knowing About

You may not need to delete your whole account:

  • If someone is bothering you, you can block or report them from their profile, and manage everyone you have blocked under Settings, then Blocked users.
  • If you are getting too many notifications, you can turn them down under Settings, then Notifications.
  • If you want to stop appearing to other people, you can switch off Discoverable under Settings.

8. Questions

Email privacy@letsloop.app for anything about deletion, retention, or the rest of your data rights. Our full Privacy Policy sets out what we collect and why, and our Terms of Service cover the rules of the Service.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled a request, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put it right first.
