LetsLoop's First Community Event: Sunday Volleyball in Battersea Park

On Sunday 12 July 2026, in a sunny corner of Battersea Park, LetsLoop stopped being an idea on a screen and became a group of real people, laughing, missing serves, and meeting for the first time. It was our first ever community event, and it was exactly the kind of afternoon we built LetsLoop to make normal.

No teams. No sign-up fee. No experience required. Just a net, a ball, a patch of grass, and an open invitation to turn up and be part of something.

Why volleyball, and why Battersea Park

We wanted our first event to be the easiest possible thing to say yes to. Volleyball is perfect for that. You do not need to be good at it. You do not need to bring anyone. You do not need a plan for afterwards. You rock up, someone hands you the ball, and thirty seconds later you are shouting "mine" at a stranger who is about to become a friend.

Battersea Park gave us the rest: wide open green, the river close by, room to spread out, and that easy south London Sunday energy where nobody is in a rush. It is one of the friendliest parks in the city, and it turns out it is a very good place to meet your people.

What a "loop" actually feels like

At LetsLoop, a loop is a small, real-world plan that anyone can join. Someone posts it, people nearby loop in with one tap, and you meet up in real life. The volleyball was a loop at its most joyful: a simple plan, opened up to everyone, that grew into a proper afternoon.

That is the whole point. So much of modern social life happens behind screens and closed group chats. LetsLoop is for the opposite: the spontaneous, in-person, "come as you are" moments that actually leave you feeling connected. You do not have to already know anyone. You just have to show up.

The vibe

What we loved most was how quickly the awkwardness disappeared. Volleyball does that. Within one rally, people who had never met were high-fiving, arguing over whose point it was, and swapping the "so how did you hear about this?" stories. By the end, phones were out, but only to swap numbers and take photos, not to scroll.

This is what we mean when we say LetsLoop is free at the core and built for real life. Nobody paid to be there. Nobody was selling anything. It was just people, in a park, choosing each other for an afternoon.

This was just the first one

The Battersea volleyball is the start of a whole summer of LetsLoop community events across London: more volleyball, park picnics, run clubs, Sunday walks, and plenty of spontaneous loops in between. Some are ours; thousands more are happening in the app every week, posted by people just like you.
